The DV Revolution.
Digital Video has changed the way independent films are made.
In the past a 20 minute short using 35mm film would cost $20,000 to $30,000. With digital video, small film studios can produce quality films at a fraction of this cost. In today's environment, studios making a one-time investment in high quality video equipment can produce any number of independent films. At Red Clay, we seek to combine talented actors and scriptwriters with budding DV cinematographers. Our goal is to make quality films that get national attention. Current Productions Les Indefatigables. Tom McClellan wrote, directed and starred in this short film about a couple whose illicit romance has destroyed their lives. In post-production 10 Items or Less. Red Clay student Bill Case's screenplay was written during our "Introduction to Screenwriting" class. The work was recently filmed by Thrive Multimedia. Special thanks to Star Market in Five Points for use of their location. In post-production The Last Rose of Summer. Frances Hawkins is fighting against Alzheimer's Disease. As Frances disappears into darkness, her two grown daughters grasp in vain to keep the mother they remember. In the end, however, only Frances' young nurse Jenny is able to accept Frances' final life lessons. Jean Greenwood's original stage play about a woman suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
