Monte Sano Mountain, Green Mountain and Huntsville Mountain form a ridge line at the eastern edge of the city of Huntsville, with Monte Sano being
the northernmost mountain. Monte Sano has two good hiking areas: Monte Sano State Park and the trails of the Huntsville Land Trust. Since Huntsville is right next door, both areas are well traveled on the weekends. No trail on the mountain is particularly long or strenuous; most amount to a nice walk in the woods.
